Below is actually the first lesson in our program,
very simple but extremely effective. All of the lessons in
our program are laid out in this fashion.

Lesson One

Learning Our Special Alphabet
Song. |
| REASON: |
This
helps students recognize the letters without assistance
later on. Recognition of the letters sets the stage
for dictionary work as the student progresses. The song
format also introduces the letters and sounds in a convenient
package. |
| MATERIALS: |
The Sing 'n Sound CD or
Tape Cassette. |
Take out the SING
'n SOUND CD or Tape. Unveil it with great anticipation--"Here
is your new phonics program!" Set the timer for
ten minutes. Play the recording from the beginning through
the end of the Alphabet Song. Turn down the volume. Replay
the song several times within your ten minute lesson time.
Sing along with it yourself, to encourage your student
to do likewise. If you are teaching a student at home,
as you think of it throughout the day sing the Alphabet
Song in your student's presence.
Repeat Lesson #
1 as often as needed to master the song.
Remember each lesson is only ten minutes long! Don't overdo it! |
